Back to School? The Worst Places in the World to be a School Child in 2010 (2010)
Somalia and Haiti topped this list of the world's worst places to be a school child. This report prepared for the Global Campaign for Education warned that poor countries were teetering on the brink of an education crisis. It called on world leaders meeting at the United Nations in New York for the MDG Summit to make funding for education a priority to meet the target of universal access to basic schooling by 2015.

This report with a foreword by Martha Nussbaum used a gender lens to score and grade countries across South Asia on the basis of each country's abilities to nurture gender equality in education. This report originated in partnership with United Nations Girls Education Initiative (UNGEI) and will be launched by ASPBAE national coalitions and members across Nepal, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
