Somalia and Haiti topped this list of the world's worst places to be a school child. This report prepared for the Global Campaign for Education warned that poor countries were teetering on the brink of an education crisis. It called on world leaders meeting at the United Nations in New York for the MDG Summit to make funding for education a priority to meet the target of universal access to basic schooling by 2015.

This report originated in partnership with United Nations Girls Education Initiative (UNGEI) and will be launched by ASPBAE national coalitions and members across Nepal, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
